
The off-season is a great time to visit Whitefish. That time prior to the ski season and after the summer rush is quiet around town. No crowds, no traffic and exceptional prices makes this time of the year the perfect time to truly get away from it all.
National Bison Range Wildlife Refuge
The National Bison Range was established in 1908 and is one of the oldest Wildlife Refuges in the nation. A large portion of the 18,500 acre range consists of native prairie, forests, wetlands, and streams, providing a wide range of habitats for wildlife. Elk, deer, pronghorn, black bear, and coyotes are just some of the mammals that share the area with 350 to 500 bison. Over 200 species of birds also call this home, including eagles, hawks, meadowlarks, bluebirds, ducks, and geese.
Alpine Theatre Project
The Alpine Theatre Project is Montana's world-class professional Equity theatre. It brings artists from Broadway and other major regional theatres to perform in productions ranging from classic musicals to contemporary dramas.
Glacier Symphony & Chorale
The Glacier Symphony and Chorale (GSC) consists of more than 280 volunteer and professional musicians who perform over 30 concerts annually. The GSC has performed seven world premieres, commissioned a symphony in honor of its 10th Anniversary, and commissioned four choral pieces with lyrics written by the Glacier Children's Choir.
Golf
Golf Digest named the Flathead Valley one of the top 50 golf course destinations. With nine championship golf courses, all within a forty-five minute drive, Golf Digest's declaration surprises no one familiar with the outstanding quality and affordability of the valley's golf courses.
Glacier National Park
Often, if the weather permits, some roads in Glacier are open for bicycles before they are opened for regular vehicular traffic. This is a nice relaxing way to enjoy the park before all the crowds arrive. Fun for all ages!
Viewing Wildlife
Spring and/or fall are great times to view wildlife like bears, moose, mountain goats and big horn sheep. Take your time traveling the roads around Glacier National Park and you are sure to see some of your favorites.
