Let the fun begin. Sled dog teams from all over join forces in Whitefish and Oleny for the annual Flathead Sled Dog Race each year. Come out and meet the mushers, dogs and fans.

Overview: The annual Flathead Sled dog Race is a great event for the racers and the fans. Watch sled dog teams as they race against each other from Whitefish to Olney. The race starts at the Olney snowmobile trailhead just north of Whitefish. With several race classes and events this is a great winter time event for anyone visiting the area.

Where: On the Olney snowmobile trail, about 18 miles north of Whitefish

Fees: Free to watch. Entrance fees for racers

Details: Everyone is invited to attend, meet the teams and cheer them on as they race for two days north of Whitefish. There is a pre race ceremonial start the Friday before the race with racing on Saturday and Sunday. Awards to follow the end of the race.

Directions to the event,  Drive on highway 93 north of Whitefish to the Olney Trailhead, just off Highway 93 at mile marker 145.5 across from the Olney turn-off.
