Summer in Montana means taking a dip in one of the many swimming holes, so enjoy Whitefish swimming by visiting one of the local lakes or pools.
Where can I go swimming?
Whitefish Lake
With three beach areas replete with roped off swimming and water temps rising into the 60s, Whitefish Lake is the place to enjoy a refreshing dip. Only City Beach has a lifeguard on duty.

Sprague Creek at Lake MacDonald
There is nothing better than jumping into a mountain lake to cool off after a day of hiking. Located on the north shore of Lake MacDonald on the west side of Glacier National Park, Sprague Creek campground and recreation area features a nice swimming beach with picturesque views of the surrounding mountains. Since it’s fed by glaciers, expect the water temps to be cold.

Foy’s Lake
Just a short drive outside Kalispell, Foy’s Lake offers swimmers a quiet place to do some laps or just float on the water. With few houses and frequented by just a handful of local fisherman, Foy’s Lake features a small beach with a lot of privacy.
- Location: From Kalispell take Highway 2 to Meridian Road to Foy’s Lake Road. After 4 miles on Foy’s Lake Road you will reach the water.

Pinewood Aquatic Center and Park
One of the few pubic pools in the Flathead Valley, Columbia Falls’ Pinewood Aquatic Center and Park offers a chance for families to spend the day poolside. The 25-meter pool has lifeguards, picnic area and play area.
